


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The first day of school for the 2025-2026 school year is August 18, 2025.
School programs begin at 8:30 am and last until 2:30 pm. In order to alleviate traffic congestion on Commons Drive, The Barrett School implements staggered drop-off and pickup times starting as early as 8:00 am and ending as late as 3:00 pm.
The Barrett School offers a progressive, technology-driven program with emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Each classroom is equipped with a Smartboard and one-to-one technology for each student. The Barrett School offers a virtual reality lab for students in sixth through twelfth grades, and all students have access to age-appropriate robotics.
The Barrett School does not offer part time or hybrid programs; however, a virtual campus option will be available in the near future.
The Barrett School closely follows the Okaloosa County school calendar but does not strictly adhere to it. The Barrett School calendar reflects slight variations.
The Barrett School places extreme importance on maintaining the health and safety of our students. Our campus is designed to have one point of entry with access granted by one of two school resource officers. Each door is equipped with keyless entry and locks upon closing.
The Barrett School offers daily early care beginning at 7:45 am. While we do not offer a traditional aftercare program, we invite our students to participate in one of our many after-school clubs.
The Barrett School uses an extensive collection of curricula designed to meet the needs of all our students. Our primary curriculum is HMH, which is the industry leader in K-12 curriculum. Supplemental curriculum includes Carolina Biological Supply, VictoryXR, Science of Reading, Thinking Mathematics!, PASCO scientific, and Eisco Labs.
The Barrett School is a Cognia member, who is an applicant seeking Accreditation with NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI.
